Klaus Fuchs

Klaus Fuchs was born on December 29, 1911, in Russelsheim, Germany. Fuchs attended both Leipzip University and Kiel University. He earns PhD in physics from the University of Bristol. He become a communist in 1932, and escaped from Germany to England in 1933 when the Nazi Party. In 1943, he is transferred to the Columbia University and then been working on the Manhattan Project, and he was working on “Fat Man”. In 1945-1946, he is accused pass important nuclear weapon information to Russia. He is sent jail for fourteen years of spying. And he is release in 1959. Then he went back to East Germany, and he married a friend from his years as a student Communist, Margarete Keilson. He continues on his scientific work, and he died in January 28, 1988.
He was related to the Red Scare and McCarthyism because when Russia had its own nuclear weapon, USA fear that there was spies in the country who pass important nuclear information to Russia, so he had been investigated, and send to trial.
